Its not often that you’re presented with the opportunity to let your imagination run wild on a project, but the Lisburn Devils asked Citrus Skies to do just that.
Having seen our work on the Northern Ireland Inline Hockey Association’s data management system, the Devils were seeking a similar system for their own team website. However, they also wanted a site that was significantly different in appearance to other teams’ websites and reflected the sense of humour within the club.
With the club favouring final appearance over download speed concerns, the result is somewhat more graphics intensive than our “normal” work at Citrus Skies. Under the hood however, its all still semantic, standards-compliant code, meaning that a much more modest version of the site is available by simply switching of the CSS layer.
Behind the scenes, we added extra features for the Devils including specialised image upload functionality for the Featured Player and Player Profile sections, plus dynamic image generation for news headlines and other titles to to present them in fonts consistent with the site design.
