Adobe Fireworks - How Many Bucks for Your Bang?
7 November 2006
I’ve long favoured Fireworks as my tool of choice for web graphics creation and given that the version I have is getting on in years (its still branded Macromedia Fireworks, from before the Adobe buy-out) I thought it was about time I moved up to the latest version.
A quick visit to adobe.com revealed that the price for the full version of Fireworks 8 is $299 (approx £157). So why then, when I provide my location as being within the UK, does that price tag suddenly jump to £308.55?
Forget all the normal excuses we hear in the UK about import duties and shipping costs leading to higher prices, this is a download only version of the software. Is there a good reason why I should pay almost double for the same download, just because of where I live?
I haven’t, as yet, explored the possibilities of buying the software from a US-based retailer, but even with shipping and import duties, I believe it would still work out cheaper than the UK price.
