Adobe Do It Again
5 April 2007
The Register today reports that Adobe has increased the price difference, for its new CS3 suite of products, between what a US based customer pays for the software versus how much UK customers are being asked to pay.
This is something that I mentioned last November in regards to their Fireworks graphics software. The same product cost twice as much in the UK compared to its US price tag – and that was for a download only version.
Apparently, Adobe claim that the number of different languages and currencies involved in doing business in Europe forces their prices higher. Personally, I’d be perfectly happy downloading from the US site, putting up with American English (don’t we do that with most software anyway?) and letting my credit card company worry about converting the currencies (something they seem to manage quite well). Somehow, I don’t think Adobe would like this idea.
